HFLA Senior High School Program: Education that Grows with Students
In 2013, we launched the Human Factor Leadership Academy (HFLA) senior high school program. Our primary reason was to ensure that by the time our pioneering group of kids completed their basic school education curriculum, there would be a high school level program available to them. To make good on this dream, we used a leased and renovated tobacco building facility as our high school location.
The establishment of the HFLA senior high school began in a low-key fashion. We refrained from announcing the program to the community while a handful of our staff visited government schools in the Akatsi South District. We received permission to speak to the children in the final year of their junior high public school program, which provided excellent exposure.
When the HFLA senior high school opened its doors in the fall of 2013, 80 students were admitted and enrolled. It was an excellent but quiet start. In the spring of 2014, we officially inaugurated the HFLA senior high school program.
Today, the HFLA senior high school is in its fifth year and doing well. Some of the graduates from our high school are currently enrolled in various universities and professional trade schools in the area. We are proud of our students —both boys and girls— who continue to excel in university or professional education programs.
