The HFLA After School/Tutorial Service Program (TSP) Is Born
After formally registering the International Institute for Human Factor Development (IIHFD) in Vancouver in 1992 as an International Academic Research Group, IIHFD leadership established the Human Factor Leadership Academy (HFLA) Community Library in Akatsi, in the Volta Region of Ghana, as a community-based after school program for children in the summer of 2005.
The primary goal for establishing our Tutorial Service Program (TSP) was to discover for ourselves whether or not there would be a sufficient number of children who would be interested in the program.
When the program launched as an after school reading and TSP, we were pleasantly surprised: 100 to 150 schoolchildren attended the program, from Monday through to Saturday. The TSP operated for about five years in Akatsi before evolving into today’s HFLA school program.
